The office of the pastor takes on an awesome responsibility which requires diligence, integrity, and faithfulness.
The person who is called and appointed by God in this position must be dedicated and one who is well-disciplined to teach, correct, and exercise discipline both for himself and the members whom he leads. No one can make an individual a pastor. This is a specific gift with the anointing of the Holy Spirit. To do otherwise, would be a spiritual violation.
Moreover, pastoral ministry is identified as one of the gifts given by Jesus Christ: Ephesians 4:11. If you were not called to be a pastor, do not take up this responsibility.
Even though people Christ they will not always heed the Word. “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” I Corinthians 1:8
As the leader of God’s people, the minister must be disciplined with the ability to control himself and lead others.
The minister must be diligent in carrying the work of ministry, very principled, and even tempered when dealing leading others.
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Always Seek Peace
And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all (men), apt to teach, patient,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
And (that) they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 Timothy 2:24-26
One of the main points to take into consideration when an individual seeks the office a pastor is that similar to all other offices that person must be called and be prepared to abide by the qualifications listed I Timothy 3:1-11
Reaching the World and making Disciples:
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
