Proverbs 26:24-28

24 He that hates dissembles with his lips, and lays up deceit within him;

25 When he speaks fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

26 Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be showed before the whole congregation.

27 Whoso digs a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolls a stone, it will return upon him.

28 A lying tongue hates those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth works ruin.

I John 3:15
Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Hatred is a moral crime and spiritual transgression. The Word lists many things which God hates (Proverbs 6), but most of all He hates sin. Haters display their venom against people who are upright or those who oppose what they believe. It is not that what or whom haters attack is always right or even wrong; but the manner in which they express their opposition can be destructive even deadly. Is it any wonder that the Bible says that hate is murder (I John 3:15). For the most part, the values and beliefs of haters are often tainted with narcissism and selfish pride. Similar to Satan; haters hate those who live upright lives, which they despise. They will go to any length to accuse and lie against those persons whose lives reveal their hateful behaviours.

Those who hate the righteous will be desolate (Psalm 34:21). Why do people hate that which is good? Why do they hate those who expose their evil deeds? The answer is guilt! They know that their hearts are corrupt and the light of the righteous illuminates their odious diseased hearts. Haters even hate God, and He promises to repay them (Deuteronomy 7:10). God sees the heart of the hateful person and He has a pay day for them.

There is a difference between hatred and opposition. Those who are hateful  spew deadly venom and commit destructive acts. With opposition, this is an expression of differences; but the individuals or groups are still able to respect each other. However, when hate and opposition are connected there is no limit to what those persons will do.

In contrast, love brings people together and shows care and concern for one another. Love builds, while hate destroys. God loves the sinner; but He hates sin because He cannot behold iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13).

If you harbour or display hatred in your speech and behaviour, it is time to repent.
